The State Fiscal Agent, PCG, has identified an issue with some payers rejecting claims when the child’s or provider’s address does not contain a 9-digit zip code. Payers use the US Postal Service to verify all addresses, and often require the 9-digit zip code for verification.
An accurate 9-digit zip code will contain the 5-digit zip code plus four additional digits to identify a geographic segment within the 5-digit postal delivery area. EI Providers can use the USPS address lookup tool by using the link below. Enter an address and the tool will return the 9-digit zip code for that address.
